Soil Quality Monitoring
Soil quality monitoring is a key aspect in assessing the health of both urban and rural environments. This process helps in identifying pollutants that may harm soil quality and human health, as well as monitoring the use of natural resources to ensure sustainable development. Continuous monitoring of soil quality is essential for creating policies and measures that protect biodiversity and promote the sustainable use of land.
As part of GreenAL’s activities, this process is currently being carried out in collaboration with grant recipients in the cities of Tirana and Has, including soil quality analyses aimed at identifying pollutants and assessing their environmental impact. In the case of Tirana, historical data is also available related to the mapping of green spaces, with the goal of evaluating the ecosystem services provided by urban soil, such as air quality improvement, reduction of urban heat, and support for biodiversity.
