On September 13, representatives of CSOs, businesses and the media had the opportunity to discuss and give their opinions on the new draft law ‘On Integrated Waste Management’, in a round table held within the #GreenAL project.
Among the main points of discussion were:
• The need for the development of a broad-based public consultation, seeing the strategic importance that this law has for the country and society;
• Involvement of interest groups in the revision of the law and by-laws to ensure inclusiveness;
• Taking into consideration the technical and financial capacities of Local Self-Government Units to implement the law and respect the established objectives;
• Drafting of measures, criteria and programs for the prevention and recovery of waste;
• Defining a unified methodology for reporting and monitoring the amount and typology of waste generated in the country.
