Round table within the #GreenAL project, on the Integrated Waste Management law

On September 13, representatives of CSOs, businesses, and the media had the opportunity to discuss and give their opinions on the new draft law ‘On Integrated Waste Management’, in a round table held within the #GreenAL project. This discussion focused on the importance of the Integrated Waste Management law and its implications for environmental sustainability in the country.

Among the main points of discussion were:

  • The need for the development of a broad-based public consultation, seeing the strategic importance that this law has for the country and society; 
  • Involvement of interest groups in the revision of the law and by-laws to ensure inclusiveness; 
  • Taking into consideration the technical and financial capacities of Local Self-Government Units to implement the law and respect the established objectives; 
  • Drafting of measures, criteria and programs for the prevention and recovery of waste; 
  • Defining a unified methodology for reporting and monitoring the amount and typology of waste generated in the country.

All the discussed topics were forwarded to the relevant institution through a joint statement. This statement emphasizes the need for effective implementation and monitoring of the Integrated Waste Management law to ensure its success. To read the full statement, download the document below.
